Name: Triton

First Appearance: FANTASTIC FOUR #45

Powers: Like most Inhumans, Triton has advanced speed, strength, agility, stamina, and durability. His physiology is adapted for life in the water, making him able to swim at speeds of up to 40 miles per hour and can survive waters of extreme heat or cold. Triton’s athleticism rivals that of most advanced human specimens on land, but without a breathing device, cannot stay out of the water for longer than a few minutes.

Origin: Triton went through his Terrigen Mist transformation when he was only a year old, emerging with a number of aquatic adaptations. Triton’s mother, Azur, studied biology and started focusing on ocean life in hopes of better understanding her son. Her research allowed her to develop a breathing apparatus that would allow Triton to breathe out of water for longer periods of time.

When Triton turned 18, he became a scout for the Inhumans and kept watch of human activity near Attilan, home to the Inhumans. After Triton was captured by sailors, Black Bolt, King of the Inhumans, determined that Attilan was at risk of human discovery and moved the city from an island to the Moon. While Attilan was located on the Moon, Triton spent most of his time exploring underwater tunnels beneath the Moon’s Blue City.

When the Inhuman Maximus briefly took command of the Inhumans, he injected a saline solution into Triton’s blood that would allow him to breathe air and survive on land for much longer periods of time. With the teleporting Lockjaw, Triton often travels back to Earth to solidify alliances and friendships, especially with Namor, the Sub-Mariner, who rules the underwater realm.

See Triton in action this Tuesday at 9:00 p.m. ET on Disney XD when S.H.I.E.L.D. Academy continues on "Marvel's Ultimate Spider-Man: Web-Warriors"! Stay tuned to Marvel.com for all the latest news and updates on your favorite Marvel animated series.
