Spider-Man has a real hard time keeping his brain in his noggin. Over the past few years of his web-slinging career, a number of heroes and villains have confounded Peter Parker by kicking him out of his own body. Nothing is quite as disconcerting as looking in the mirror and seeing a stranger's face—especially if that stranger is an eight-foot tall green monster!
With the premiere of "Marvel's Ultimate Spider-Man: Web Warriors" fast approaching—the two-parter hits your TV screen on Sunday, August 31 at 9 a.m. ET on Disney XD—we're going to take this opportunity to run through some of Spidey's most outrageous brain swaps!
SPIDER-MAN & WOLVERINE
Parker's brain switching shenanigans began—in a comic titled "Even We Don't Believe This"—when the teenager woke up in the older, hairier, and smellier body of Wolverine. A quick call to his Queens home proved his greatest fear: Wolverine had indeed taken control of his body. The duo swapped lives for a day, meaning Wolverine had to spend another day in high school and Spider-Man had to learn how to stop stabbing himself with his claws.
SPIDER-MAN & WOLVERINE… AGAIN
Years after its publication, the ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN two-parter became an "Ultimate Spider-Man" episode titled "Freaky." For the first time, Spider-fans got to see just how awkward Logan and Peter's body language looked when placed in the wrong body. The lumbering "Spidey" had to team up with the super agile "Wolverine" against the telepathic villain Mesmero in order to get their brains switched back to normal.
SPIDER-MAN & DOCTOR OCTOPUS
The longest brain swap in Spider-history occurred when Otto Octavius swapped places with Peter Parker in AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #698. The bad news in addition to that bad news? Doc Ock was dying. The villain's body died before Spider-Man had a chance to escape, leaving the mad scientist in total control of Peter Parker's body indefinitely. The new "hero" decided to up Spider-Man's game, turning the hero into a "superior" version of himself by utilizing more tech and cutthroat tactics.
SPIDER-MAN & THE HULK
The devious Mesmero escaped S.H.I.E.L.D. custody and once again decided to put the hurt on Spider-Man in an episode titled "The Incredible Spider-Hulk." This time, however, the mastermind switched Spidey's mind with the rampaging Hulk! As if that wasn't enough to ruin Peter Parker's day, Mesmero threw a brainwashed Thing threw into the mix as well, pitting the hero's rocks against the "Hulk's" green hide.
